Every year Athens welcomes Christmas time in a festive mood!
So, many decades ago, when the country was recovering after a war, reborned Athens was starting to prepare for Christmas.
New, refreshed and festive with renovated fountains, Athens decorated the streets and the squaires, and welcomed all the citizens to celebrate!
Out of the stores there were stacked melomakarona and sugared buns. People offered gifts to traffic policemen. Santa Claus was waiting at the Minion Store. The air was full of cotton candy smell and there was heavy traffic at the streets.
A look from Lycabettus hill would show the change in the air of the festive city! The fresh and glamour look of Athens was highlighted by the new buildings, the central squares and the wide streets.
And, as the city was waiting for the bus under the snowfall, the citizens were embracing the new ‘60s lifestyle. They were reading “Pantheon”, “Radio” and “Romantso”, listening to modern music and surrending themselves to the new Christmas Shopping habits.
Since then, a modern society was formed and every year welcomes us with festive mood!
